Hummingbirds at Bedtime

Hummingbirds arrive for their evening snack

Kingston and I delayed his suggested bedtime and got snuggled up in a blanket on the back porch to watch the evening rush of hummingbirds at our feeder.

We pulled a chair right up, almost underneath the feeder and were delighted with a steady humm… of numerous visitors.

We took turns snapping photos and of course             K-Town’s images were the prize of the show.

Kingston and Grandpa – this guy does not look like he’s ready for bed…

Well eventually the sun set and the birds flew off to roost for the evening.  Getting “Bubba” to sleep was not quite as simple.  A drink of water, go pee, two stories (one about hummingbirds that turned into dragons) a back scratch, and a song (“Don’t Fence Me In”)…piece of cake.  No, wait!  I didn’t give him any cake…that was just a figure of speech.

I think we’ll both fall asleep dreaming of hummingbirds tonight.  Good night Dudes.
